una tanda queer con …

… is a dance/film/talk format. 

Una Tanda Queer Con … makes use of the consented encounter of two people at the milonga to dance a tanda, i.e. four tangos, three to four valses or three milongas – a timespan of ten to fifteen minutes. It is exciting, because no matter if the partner is already known or a new one, both dancers contribute to improvise a nice dance. But they are not alone, there is music, there are other people, there are moods …

Una Tanda Queer Con … transposes the tanda to a conversation that allows for expressive co-creation. There is me, Arno, there are cameras, sometimes with, sometimes without a professional filmer behind. And then there is the partner I invited to have a tanda queer with. Even though there are some guiding questions from my side, the partners – as it happens while dancing – have the opportunity to co-create, be it where they want to go thematically, be it how they choose to express themselves corporeally, be it where we meet to encounter etc.
